Chitika WordPress Plugin v2.0

The folks at Chitika have posted version 2.0 of their eMiniMall plugin for Wordpress blogs. The plugin allows you to put a Chitika eMiniMall right into the body of your blog post. There is also a convenient button in the editor to customize keywords, colors etc.

I don’t use this plugin myself, but I certainly do place their eMinimalls into my Wordpress templates.  If you are not too sure about modifying your Wordpress code, then I would suggest this plugin.

Whats New:

  • The plugin configuration is now done through the Wordpress options tab. No need to edit the files.
  • To put a eMiniMall right into your blog post, there is now a little button on the editor to help you add and customize the eMiniMal l for that particular post
  • This plugin is backward compatible with Wordpress 1.5. So you can use it with Wordpress 1.5 as well.

 Download it here.

Yahoo! Term Extraction and Meta-keywords

How’s that for a title!

I’ve been doing a little experimenting with Yahoo’s Term Extraction web service and learning some php at the same time. The result? My very first Wordpress plugin!

What does it do? Right-click on this page that you are reading and select View Page Source from the menu. Now look at the meta-tag for keywords. These were automatically generated for me using Yahoo! and my Wordpress plugin.

This plugin guarantees that every page on my blog will have highly relevant keywords to the topic of the blog entry. I ran a few tests using some other tools and found my relevancy ranging 90-100%

What is surprising however is how it is affecting my Google AdSense earnings. Almost immediately after installing the changes (a few hours), my EPC for AdSense nose-dived to under $0.10 from previous $0.20 to $0.40 range.

I fail to understand why this would be? Doesn’t Google want my metatags to be as accurate as possible?

Anybody have any theories?
