Blog Explosion Sucks

One thing you should never do in your blog or website is talk down to your customers and or threaten them. They are your customers after all and you may not know who you’re talking to. It’s just bad form. Take this example of an email I just received from BlogExplosion.com

Subject: Blog Declined at Blog Explosion
From: BlogExplosion <rachel@blogexplosion.com>

Your blog was declined for the following reason:
This is not a blog — ton of non-original content surrounded by ads — Next time you add a site like this we will delete your account..

You know what Rachel? Perhaps a little customer service training would help. While you’re at it, perhaps learn some grammar and sentence structure. And more to the point, who are you to decide what a blog is? I’m sure Robert Scoble would say my blog (which you so flippantly rejected) is a blog. Are Darren Rowse’s product focused blogs blogs? I’m sure you’d let him in. I think you are an elitist. I think you think you’re smarter than you really are.

I’ll now save you the chore of deleting my account. Thanks for nothing Blog Explosion.

Especially strange given that they are trying to sell the site.

It’s funny, I got a very similar message to them when I updated my listing for my blog, since I changed its URL. Hey, they can do what they want, but I’m certainly not going to spend any effort trying to work with them.

I applied yesterday and got an email from Rachel declining me.

She stated that “Sorry your blog has been declined at BlogExplosion as we are no longer accepting blogs that primarily contain advertising, or promote business opportunities.”

Lets see 323 posts in 4 months, getting linked in from almost all of the major bloggers in the niche, and i am primarily advertising?

I am seeing a train wreck coming for the potential buyers of BlogExplosion. And the name Rachel will be all over it.

I forgot to put a link in for the site I was referring to,,,

    http://www.therealestatebloggers.com

It is amazing how quickly one person can engender ill will. Last night I was excited to join after I was refered by another blogger in the niche.

Thanks Rachel. Hope someone see’s this at review time…

A great brand can take months, if not years, and millions of dollars to build. It should be the thing you hold most precious.

It can be destroyed in hours by a blogger upset with your company.
