Google screws Canadians

Question: How many PhD’s does it take to do a currency conversion?

Answer: n+1 (where n equals the number of PhD’s Google employs)

What am I talking about? If you are a Canadian publisher, you will notice that Google converted your USD earnings for April 2006 into Canadian dollars using the wrong conversion. They went the wrong direction in converting, dividing when they should have multiplied.

I hear Swedish publishers are seeing the same thing too.

I’m sure Google will correct this. It is just kind of humorous.

***Update-
I just received this email from Google

Hello,

We wish to inform you that the exchange rate used for your
April payment was incorrect. We’re working hard to
investigate this error and will update you once we have
additional details on how we intend to resolve the issue.

If you normally receive communication for us in a
language other than English, we will provide additional
information in your preferred language next week.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your
patience.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

Chitika adds Improvements

For reports from April 11th 2006 onwards, Chitika have incorporated a small change in the way they count ad impressions.

They will no longer be reporting on ad impressions from countries they don’t support. This is designed to provide a more accurate picture of the effective CPM (eCPM) they are delivering for your traffic from supported countries.

They stress that this reporting change does not affect your revenue in any way. If you get significant traffic from unsupported countries, you will see a sudden drop in your Impressions column starting 2006-04-11. Check out this Knowledgebase Article for the complete scoop.
